UniBank has announced its scholarship scheme for 2021, offering two university students a total of AUD$5,000 (£2,800/$3,800/€3,200) each to support their academic and athletic endeavours.

It is part of UniBank's ongoing partnership with UniSport Australia and their commitment to supporting university students.

UniBank has been the presenting partner of UniSport's Nationals Div 1 and Div 2 competitions for the past three years.

"The partnership with UniSport is important as it helps us to support students from across all universities to not only excel at their chosen sports but to a healthy and connected student experience on campus," said Mike Lanzing, UniBank general manager.

To be eligible for the UniBank Leaders Scholarship, a student must be a member of one of UniSport's 43 member universities and demonstrate a track record of leadership experience either in sport or around areas such as clubs or community.

They must have represented their university in sport either at Nationals or another sporting event.

Applicants must write an 800-word letter and have their application supported with a letter from their university's sport development or relevant organisation where they have taken a leadership role.

The letter must include what the student is studying and at what institution, the sport they represented the university in, a summary of their leadership experience, their goals after university and how they think the scholarship will benefit them.

Applicants must also answer what they think makes an inspiring leader and what a leader means to them.

The deadline for applying is April 23, with the scholarships due to be announced and presented at the UniSport Conference in Sydney on May 11.
