Thomas Kure started off the day with a win for Nigeria in the men's 59 kilograms category, lifting 176kg, ahead of his compatriot Ibrahim Dauda, who claimed silver with a lift 165kg.

Poland's Mariusz Tomczyk took bronze with a lift of 162kg, 1kg ahead of Britain's Ali Jawad.

A second gold for Nigeria came in the next event - the women's 61kg - when Lucy Ejike finished far ahead of the rest of the field with a lift of 133kg.

Rayisa Toporkova of Ukraine claimed silver on 112kg and Britain's Kimberley Dean won bronze with a lift of 78kg.

A third was added for Nigeria in the women's under-67kg when Olaitan Ibrahim claimed gold with a lift of 122kg.

The silver medal went to Tetyana Shyrokolava of Ukraine with a lift of 102kg, ahead of Ireland's Britney Arendse on countback.

Britain's Mark Swan earned gold in the men's under-65kg category with a last round lift of 173kg to take the win away from Marek Trykacz of Poland by one kilogram.

Kazuki Okuyama of Japan won bronze with a lift of 145kg.

The men's 72kg title went to Uzbekistan's Iskandar Tursunbaev after he lifted 203kg to deny Nigeria a fourth gold.

Nnamdi Innocent was forced to settle for silver on 192kg, 1kg clear of Italy's Donato Telesca in third.
