The 2021 World Para Powerlifting World Cup season is set to start tomorrow with a three-day event in Colombian capital Bogota.

COVID-19 protocols will be in place for athletes, who have to take take polymerase chain reaction tests on arrival and when departing the event.

Athletes must have an attendance card and disclose relevant medical information.

A bubble mode will be in place for athletes and staff staying at a designated hotel, with organisers recommending isolation prior to travelling if possible.

Face masks will be mandatory at all times, except for athletes on the competition stage.

A negative test is also required to enter Colombia.

Nine women's weight classes and 10 men's weight classes are set to be contested in Bogota.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 leg in Bogota was cancelled.

The city will now stage a World Cup event though, building on the legacy from the 2018 Americas Open Championships in the city.

Legs in Thailand and the United Arab Emirates that were cancelled last season were also included on the 2021 calendar.

In the absence of in-person events, World Para Powerlifting held the Online World Cup series throughout much of last year.

Russia's Vera Muratova was crowned champion of the inaugural World Para Powerlifting Online World Cup Finals, with compatriot Anastasiia Mamadamirova finishing second.
