Carina Edlinger, who has a visual impairment and is a Pyeongchang 2018 bronze medallist as well as four-time world champion, believes the event presents "a good opportunity to see where you stand".

"For us Para athletes it’s important to still keep a race flow before the Paralympic season," Edlinger said.

"It’s a good opportunity to see where you stand and what you need to work on until the World Championships, Paralympics season in 2021-2022.

"People usually underestimate what we are doing and how much hard work goes on in the background, so it’s important to show that we are here and also compete to make a statement."

A Para Nordic Skiing World Cup has not been held since February 2020, owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

Another is planned in Vuokatti in Finland before the end of March.
