Turkey claimed a clean sweep of the medals in the W1 individual open category on the third day of the Fazza Para Archery World Ranking Tournament at the Dubai Club for People of Determination.

In this category, covering both recurve and compound, an all Turkish gold medal match pitted world number one and reigning world champion Bahattin Hekimoglu against compatriot and current world number three Yigit Caner Aydin.

Hekimoglu triumphed 134-131 against Caner Aydin.

The bronze medal match also went Turkey’s way as Nihat Turkmenoglu defeated Romania’s Bogdan Raicu 132-113.

In the mixed team open, India claimed gold in the recurve final with Harvinder Singh and Pooja shooting scores of 32, 33, 32 and 30 as they overcame Turkish pair Merve Nur Eroglu and Sadik Savas, who could only manage scores of 37, 30, 35 and 29.

Elsewhere in the mixed team open category, the compound gold medal match went to Russia, with Stepanida Artakhinova and Nail Gatin winning 158-155 against India’s pair of Jyoti Baliyan and Shyam Sundar Swami.

The compound bronze medal match went the way of France’s Julie Chupin and Daniel Lelou who won 151-147 against Oznur Cure and Murat Turan of Turkey.

The final day of action is scheduled to put the spotlight on individual competitions – with gold and bronze medals set to be awarded in the men’s and women’s recurve and compound open categories.
