The 19-year-old, making her international debut, clocked 14.59sec to clinch gold and better the previous record of 14.61 set by fellow Italian Martina Caironi.

Elena Kratter and Sofia Gonzalez, both of Switzerland, followed in 16.40 and 16.84 respectively to secure the other two medals.

"I feel very excited," said Sabatini who had set the Italian 60m record at an indoor competition two weeks ago.

"I didn’t realise my finish time, I just put all my energy to get a good timing here.

"I am really happy now to see that I got a world record.

"This is my first international competition.

"I will start my preparation for Tokyo 2020 now."

In the women’s 100m wheelchair T53 and 54 final, Hamide Dogangun led home a Turkish one-two-three in a time of 17.51.

Zubeyde Supurgeci came second in 18.00 with Zeynep Acet finishing third in 18.71.

Pongsakorn Paeyo of Thailand clinched top spot in the men’s 100m wheelchair T53 final courtesy of a time of 15.11.

This was enough to see off fellow Taiwanese racer Pichet Krungget who clocked 15.66 to finish second and Kuwait’s Abdullah Alenzei who came third with 15.98.

Paralympic middle-distance champion Mohammed Al Hammadi continued his good run at the Dubai Club for People of Determination grounds by picking up his second silver.

Al Hammadi of the United Arab Emirates completed the race in 1min 47.46sec to finish behind his Tunisian rival and multiple Paralympic gold medallist Walid Ktila who recorded 1:38.43 in the men’s 800m T34 final.

The bronze medal went to United Arab Emirates' Ahmed Nawad with a time of 1:53.35.

India’s gold medal tally swelled to nine thanks to fine javelin throws from Navdeep Navdeep in F41, Ajeet Singh in F46 and Sandeep Sandeep in F64.

Fouzia El Kassioui of Morocco claimed a new African record in the women’s javelin wheelchair F33 final with a throw of 14.78 metres.

Asmahane Boudjadar of Algeria was second with 11.95 and United Arab Emirates' Aishah Salem Alkhaaldi took bronze with 8.59.
