Participants include emerging talent Martin Vlach, who has already qualified for Tokyo 2020 by finishing third at the 2019 European Modern Pentathlon Championships.

He is joined by Jan Kuf, the 2015 World Championship mixed relay gold medal winner, London 2012 Olympian Ondrej Polivka, and Marek Grycz, who clinched the men's relay title at the 2018 Junior World Championships with Vlach.

David Kindl makes up the five-member pentathlon team, which is accompanied by four coaches. 

An eight-member team of young Czech fencers have also travelled to train in Dubai. 

Both teams arrived on Monday (February 8) and will train daily until February 20 at the Hamdan Sports Complex.

The venue is one of the biggest multi-purpose facilities in the world and can host athletes from sports such as basketball, badminton, handball and volleyball. 

The two 50-metre Olympic-standard swimming pools at the complex also allows for swimming, synchronised swimming, diving and water polo. 

International teams were invited to train in the Emirate by the Dubai Sports Council in November. 

It pledged to provide all necessary resources, including entry visas, and committed to holding the training camps with strict COVID-19 protocol and precautionary measures in place.

The Czech Republic has earned two Olympic medals in modern pentathlon, with David Svoboda winning the men's event at London 2012. 

Libor Capalini had previously clinched bronze in the men's contest at Athens 2004. 

This year's Olympics are scheduled for July 23 to August 8 in Japan's capital.
