Garmisch-Partenkirchen will host the final International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup event prior to this month’s World Championships.

The German venue will host men's downhill and super-G competitions on consecutive days, following today’s training run.

Austria’s Max Franz topped training today after achieving a time of 1min 34.98.

He was followed by Germany’s Josef Ferstl and Italy’s Dominik Paris.

Ferstl was 0.29sec slower, while Paris was 0.63 off the pace in training.

The downhill World Cup standings are currently led by Switzerland’s Beat Feuz, who placed eighth in training today.

Austria’s Matthias Mayer and France’s Johan Clarey lie second and third in the standings heading into the sixth of eight World Cup downhill races.

The duo will hope to close the gap to Feuz and head into the World Championships boosted by a strong result tomorrow.

Skiers will head to Cortina d'Ampezzo following the event for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

The World Championships is scheduled to run from February 9 to 21.
