The Lillehammer Sport and Event Conference is scheduled to take place on February 16.

The event will be held in partnership with the Lillehammer 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships, which had been scheduled for February 7 to 20 before being postponed to January 2022 because of the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Next month’s conference will feature Norwegian Paralympian Bjørnar Erikstad, who served as the country’s Flagbearer at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Erikstad will discuss his story in the opening topic of the conference, which has been titled "Rise of the Challenge".

International Paralympic Committee (IPC) chief marking and communications officer Craig Spence will present on "Our Proud Paralympic History".

Professor Gudrun Doll-Tepper, vice president of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, will deliver a talk titled "On the Road to Inclusion".

Doll-Tepper is expected to offer her thoughts on structures, developments and perspectives in sport, including Para sport in Germany.

Mads Andreassen, head of activity development at the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports, will present on the topic "The Norwegian Model".

The Norwegian Ski Federation, Norwegian Swimming Federation and the Norwegian Athletics Association will offer three stories on their success and challenges within Para sport, before a presentation from the VI Foundation.

Proceedings will conclude with a panel discussion on the key to raising awareness of Para sports in the future.

The conference is set to be hosted by four-time X Games snowboard winner Silje Norendal and Lena Schrøder, a member of the Norwegian national Para ice hockey team.
