Australian Laura Peel and Russian Maxim Burov reigned supreme once again in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Aerials World Cup as they came out on top in Yaroslavl.

Competing in the discipline for the first time in more than a month, Peel and Burov showed little sign of rustiness in the Russian city to make it two wins from two this season following their success in Ruka in December.

Burov hit the ground running with a superb showing in qualifying before turning on the style to win the men's individual contest with 127.6 points.

Compatriot Pavel Krotov also impressed in his native country as he clocked the second best score of 120.81.

Noe Roth of Switzerland took third spot with 117.26 ahead of American Justin Schoenfeld on 108.60 and Belarussians Maksim Gustik and Makar Mitrafanau who scored 93.36 and 72.58 respectively.

Russian Ilya Burov, who came third in Ruka, had to settle for seventh place on this occasion. 

In the women’s event, Peel picked up from where she left off with a confident display, registering a winning score of 96.59.

She was followed by American Ashley Caldwell who came second with 96.23 and Russian Liubov Nikitina who finished third with 93.41.

Winter Vinecki of the United States and Belarussian Hanna Huskova also secured a place in the top five while Canadian Marion Thénault came sixth after impressing in qualifying.

Yaroslavl is staging the Aerials World Cup for the first time.

Competition is set to continue tomorrow with further men’s and women’s singles competitions followed by a mixed team event.
