Despite a comeback from the European outfit, the US put the game beyond doubt late on.

Matej Kaslik got Slovakia on the scoreboard late in that period and Dominik Sojka gave them further hope when he brought the score back to 3-2.

However, Farinacci and Matthew Beniers scored in the 55th and 58th minutes respectively to ensure a win for the US.

Hosts and reigning world champions Canada had no issue turning over the Czech Republic in their quarter-final, winning by a comfortable 3-0 scoreline.

Dylan Cozens opened the scoring after eight minutes and Bowen Byram made it two just three minutes later, with Connor McMichael scoring late on in the third period to wrap up the result.

Russia will be their semi-final opponents, having defeated Germany 2-1.

A first-period goal by Vasili Ponomaryov opened the scoring for the Russians, and Danil Bashkirov doubled their advantage.

Florian Elias, one of Germany's bright sparks during the competition, got his side back in the game in the third period, but an equaliser would not come.
