Maria Rauch-Kallat has been re-elected President of the Austrian Paralympic Committee (ÖPC) following a General Assembly that also saw new Board members elected.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the General Assembly was held virtually and utilised online voting.

Although some members met at ÖPC headquarters for the meeting, most participated remotly.

Rauch-Kallat, who has been the head of the ÖPC since 2009, was unanimously re-elected as ÖPC President, making it her fourth term in office.

"I thank you for your trust and will continue my work with a lot of heart and passion," Rauch-Kallat said following re-election.

"We are currently experiencing challenging times, and at the same time, the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 and Beijing in 2022, two outstanding highlights within a few months.

"But it's also about continuously improving the conditions for our athletes.

"A lot of positive things have happened in the last few years, but we still have some tasks to do."

Due to amendments to the statutes, there are now three vice-presidents instead of two, with both Brigitte Jank and Hermann Krist being re-elected.

Austrian Workers' Compensation Board general director Alexander Bernart has taken up the new position as the third vice-president.

The General Assembly also saw an update given regarding a new trauma and rehabilitation centre in Meidling in Vienna to help future Paralympians.

"We hope that we can open this new centre in 2026," Bernart said.

"It is a vision for something new that will also set new standards in terms of training facilities."

The ÖPC is involved in the development of the new facility.

Austrian Cycling Federation President Harald Mayer has now also joined the Board, while Christian Purrerm Stefan Grubhofer will also join.

Andrea Cremer and Iyabode Voglsperger have been elected to the ÖPC Advisory Board.

Elections were preceded by presentations and reports on the work of the ÖPC this year, including preparations for the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Paralympics.

The new website with a personalised sports hub for the Austrian Paralympic team was also demonstrated as the ÖPC looks to increase its online presence.
