Idre Fjall will host an International Ski Federation (FIS) Moguls World Cup event for the first time with three days of competition set to take place at the Swedish venue.

Competition will begin tomorrow with 60 skiers contesting men’s qualification, before 40 women seek a place in the final.

Both the men’s and women’s finals will be held on Saturday (December 12).

France’s Perrine Laffont will be the skier to beat in the women’s event.

The defending World Cup champion triumphed in the opening competition of the season in Ruka last weekend, as she seeks a fourth consecutive overall title.

Laffont has now won nine of the last 11 women’s FIS Moguls World Cup events.

The only two events Laffont was unable to win came in the four dual moguls competitions last season, with Canada’s Justine Dufour-Lapointe and the United States’ Jaelin Kauf securing victories.

Idre Fjall will host the opening dual moguls competition of the season on Sunday (December 13).

The men’s World Cup season began without reigning champion Mikael Kingsbury, with the Canadian absent after fracturing his T4 and T5 vertebrae.

Japan’s Ikuma Horishima triumphed in his absence in Ruka to top the early World Cup standings.

The world champion on moguls and dual moguls in 2017, Horishima will hope to repeat his success this weekend in Sweden.
