Chengdu 2021 has launched a search for the official song of next year’s International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games.

Organisers are seeking original compositions for the Games, with the search set to feature three stages.

The first phase will see entries submitted to Chengdu 2021, followed by an evaluation process.

The final phase will reportedly see global promotion of the selected song.

Organisers say the winner of the selected song will witness their original tune become the official anthem of the Games.

The song will be used at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as the Torch Relay and competitions.

Participation will be open to all musicians, musical groups and members of the general public passionate about sport, regardless of age, gender or occupation.

There is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted by each applicant.

Submissions can be made either by post or online, but must be submitted by December 18.

The Chengdu 2021 Executive Committee will establish an evaluation committee to assess all proposals and finalise the winners by late January 2021.

The winning songs then become candidates for the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games anthem.

The winner will receive a cash prize of RMB80,000 (£9,000/$12,000/€10,000), while second place will receive RMB40,000 (£4,500/$6,000/€5,000).

Third place will earn RMB20,000 (£2,200/$3,000/€2,500), while seven more entries will receive RMB10,000 (£1,200/$1,500/€1,700).

The prizes are listed before tax.

The campaign will be led by Chengdu 2021’s official internet partner Tencent, which will be supported by QQ Music.
