Riga defended their International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 World Tour Doha Masters title with a last-gasp 21-20 victory over Liman.

Trailing 20-15, Riga battled back before Karlis Lasmanis shot from behind the arc to score a dramatic buzzer-beater.

The 26-year-old stepped up with a game-high 11 points as he played a pivotal role in Riga’s second title of the year, following their Hungary Masters success in September.

The Latvian team were also boosted by the sharp shooting of Edgars Krumins, who topped the scoring charts with 34 points across five games, while Nauris Miezis received the Most Valuable Player award after leading his team in key assists, rebounds and player value.

Earlier in the day, Riga saw off Germans Bielefeld 21-7 before beating Lithuanian newcomers Utena Uniclub 21-13 in the semi-finals.

Liman of Serbia reached the final after defeating Swiss side Lausanne 21-14 and then Jeddah of Saudi Arabia 20-15.

Riga and Liman will now look forward to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Jeddah Final, which begins on December 18.

Princeton of the United States finished fifth in Doha but it was not enough to seal their place in Saudi Arabia.

Despite not playing in the Qatari capital, Mongolia's Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy and Dutch team Amsterdam will take the remaining two spots at next month’s end-of-season finale.

Serbia’s Novi Sad, Americans NY Harlem, Slovenians Piran, Lithuania’s Šakiai Gulbelė, Lausanne, Serbian team Ub, Utena Uniclub and hosts Jeddah are also set to compete in Saudi Arabia.

Basketball's 3x3 discipline is due to make its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 next year.
