Four teams went unbeaten on the opening day of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 World Tour event in Qatari capital Doha.

Liman - the top-ranked team in the world - Riga, who won the Doha Masters last season, Lithuanian newcomers Utena Uniclub and Princeton all won both of their matches and booked spots in the quarter-finals.

Utena's Žygimantas Skučas led all players with 18 points today, helping his team brush aside Lausanne and NY Harlem.

Liman had the best overall record, conceding only 23 points across two matches.

All three of Utena, Serbia's Liman and Latvian outfit Riga have already qualified for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Jeddah Final, which begins on December 18.

Americans Princeton have not yet done so, and will need to advance to the last four tomorrow if they are to secure a place at the end-of-season finale in Saudi Arabia.

Princeton will play Jeddah in the quarter-finals, while Liman face Swiss team Lausanne.

Germans Bielefeld stand between Riga and the final four, while local team Lusail and Utena will lock horns.

Lusail and Bielefeld are also chasing spots in the Jeddah Final, but like Princeton must win their quarter-finals to get there.

If all three reach the semi-finals, the two top-ranked teams at this event will advance.

Mongolia's Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy and Dutch team Amsterdam currently occupy 11th and 12th in the overall standings - the last two qualification berths - and stand to lose out if results go against them tomorrow, when the Doha Masters is due to conclude.

Basketball's 3x3 discipline is due to make its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 next year.
