The British-based company will provide apparel to the British national teams as well as clothing for wheelchair basketball clubs, participants and staff as part of the agreement, which begins on Monday (November 16).

Kukri Sports is set to replace Adidas as the manufacturer of the British squads' wheelchair basketball kits.

"I'm thrilled to announce our partnership with Kukri," said British Wheelchair Basketball chief executive Lisa Pearce.

"The next four years will be hugely positive for the sport as we look towards the Paralympic and Commonwealth Games and continue to forge ahead in our ambition to bring more participants into the sport and deliver professional leagues across the UK.

"Kukri will be producing bespoke kit designed specifically for British Wheelchair Basketball. 

"Their passion for our sport and dedication to working collaboratively to help us perform at our optimum is hugely exciting."

The partnership will launch with British Wheelchair Basketball’s virtual club, which will see coaches lead online sessions for members of the governing body once a week.

The first session on Monday will be hosted by two-time wheelchair basketball Paralympian Caroline Matthews.

"With further lockdown restrictions in place, it is essential that our members are able to access opportunities to stay active, whilst they cannot get on court," Pearce added.

"Our sincere hope is that the virtual club sessions will enable this activity while also supporting our participants to feel part of the wider wheelchair basketball community.

"For Kukri to work with us to launch the partnership during such challenging times really demonstrates their commitment to supporting our audience to remain active and stay connected."

Britain's men are the reigning wheelchair basketball world champions having won the title in Hamburg in 2018, where the women's side finished as runners-up.
