USA Taekwondo national team assistant coach Lynda Laurin was selected to take part in the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Programme (ICECP).

The ICECP is overseen by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and funded through Olympic Solidarity. 

It brings together a national-level coaches from across the world for training opportunities to enhance their knowledge and expertise. 

Laurin is one of 47 coaches to be selected for the one-year programme, which requires participants to develop a dual-research project.

The project will contribute towards evidence-based athlete-coach talent identification and development, and the education of aspiring coaches.

Laurin, who has practiced taekwondo since she was a child, is a former national team athlete. 

She is also a former USA Taekwondo Board member and was once a United States Olympic and Paralympic Council Athletes’ Advisory Council representative.

"Taekwondo and sports have been one of my greatest passions since childhood," Laurin said.

"To be selected through the International Olympic Committee alongside an elite group of world-wide coaches is an incredible and humbling feeling. 

"To be further supported by IOC Olympic Solidarity and named amongst the upper echelon of 47 elite coaches spanning across all sports, all cultures, and all countries with the opportunity to develop a sustainable sport contribution is surreal."
