Beijing 2022 is hoping to reward companies which employ disabled staff by appointing them as licensed manufacturers.

According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, organisers want to ensure that more people with disabilities benefit from the upcoming Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

A project seeking new licensed manufacturers has targeted companies where at least 25 per cent of total employees are disabled.

Firms are able to apply to produce 14 different types of licensed products, including pins, key chains and crafts.

No company can apply in more than three categories, however.

Beijing 2022 launched its official licensed products plan on July 31 in 2018, to mark the three-year anniversary of the Chinese capital being awarded the Games.

According to Xinhua, 27 licensed manufacturers have already been signed-up, as well as 61 licensed retailers and 121 licensed retail stores.

A Beijing 2022 store has also been set-up on Tmall, an online shopping platform.

Beijing is due to become the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics and Paralympics in 2022.

The city staged the Summer Games in 2008.
