Six more nations have joined the International Esports Federation (IESF), growing its membership to 88.

Federations from Congo, Morocco, Malta, Kuwait, Pakistan and Turkmenistan have all become members of the global body.

The Pakistan Electronic Sports Federation was already a member of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF).

The IESF and AESF reached an agreement on a "collaborative relationship to promote and advance esports globally as well as across the Asian continent" earlier this year.

Kuwait Esports Club, the Congolese Federation of Electronic Sports, the Moroccan Esports Association and GamingMalta are the other groups to become IESF members.

IESF Acting President Vlad Marinescu said the organisation was "happy and pleased that our family continues to grow".

"I would like to congratulate our new members and look forward to our work on solidifying the foundations of the esports universe," Marinescu added.

"IESF continues operations and activities to support members, protect athletes, promote unity and foster positive exchange with traditional sport.

"We have now reached 88 members and I’m super excited as well as our Board to see the next World Championships."

Eilat in Israel is due to host the IESF World Championships this year, between December 6 and 12.

The IESF was founded in 2008 and claims to be the global governing body for esports, however a rival - the Global Esports Federation - was established in December 2019.
