Kazakhstan's capital city was awarded the World Combat Games last year, with the event scheduled to take place from May 3 to 9 in 2021.

Preliminary working documents published prior to the GAISF Virtual General Assembly next month have revealed the dates could be changed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"After many months of work and discussions between the AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport) President, the Nur-Sultan organisers and combat sport federations announced at the General Assembly that the World Combat Games will take place in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan in May 202," GAISF said.

"This is now being re-evaluated due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the aim is to host the Games in 2022.

"This is a great opportunity for the combat and martial arts IFs (International Federations) of GAISF to showcase their sports at the recently inaugurated Martial Arts palace in Nur-Sultan."

The World Combat Games was initially to be held in Chinese Taipei in 2019, but efforts were halted in 2018 with plans made to adjust the format.

The revised plans would see the Games held every four years starting in 2021.

The last edition of the Games took place in Saint Petersburg back in 2013.

GAISF’s activity report also highlighted the success of the first edition of the World Urban Games, which was held in Budapest last year.

The Budapest Local Organising Committee were praised for an "outstanding job in hosting an unforgettable Games".

GAISF claimed it is "looking ahead to the second edition of the World Urban Games in 2021 despite the global situation".

The items could be discussed during the GAISF virtual General Assembly, which is scheduled to be held on November 10.

GAISF had initially planned to hold the event in a hybrid form, with some attending in person and others joining the meeting remotely.

But the organisation has moved the entire meeting online "due to the evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic".

In an update to GAISF members, the organisation announced that the company Lumi, who specialise in offering electronic solutions, has been asked to provide a secure voting platform for the GAISF General Assembly.

"Delegates will be able to watch a live webcast which will provide the ability to listen to the meeting, see any presentations, message in any comments or questions and request to speak if required," GAISF wrote.

"Each Member’s delegation is limited to a maximum of 3 (three) persons, including Council Members (if they are represented in that organ).

"All delegates other than the President/Chairman, Vice-President or Secretary General/Director General of the Member shall send to the Administration (time permitting) a power of attorney document signed by one of the above mentioned 3 (three) Officers, which he must carry on the day of the GAISF General Assembly.

"Each Full Member who has satisfied all its financial obligations toward GAISF at the time of the meeting is entitled to one vote."

The GAISF membership will consider applications by the Association of Paralympic Sports Organisations and the World Transplant Games Federation to become associate members at the General Assembly.

An application for full membership from the International Federation of Teqball will also be voted on during the meeting.

AIMS has also decided to hold its General Assembly virtually because of the coronavirus crisis.

The General Assemblies of GAISF and AIMS typically take place as part of the SportAccord World Sport and Business Summit, but this year's event was cancelled due to COVID-19.
