The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC) hosted a forum for athletes focusing on the sports agent industry.

The forum took place at the National Sports Training Centre in Kaohsiung and saw sports agents, media and sports law experts share their knowledge of the sports agent industry with athletes.

Chang Hsien-ming, chairman of Flight International Company and a former national basketball player, shared his experience of cooperation with baseball stars Wang Chien-ming and Chen Chin-feng and NBA player Jeremy Lin.

He said that sports agents could bring various benefits for athletes, not only for business but in personal branding management, social media operation and professional training advice.

As a former sportsman he stressed that the main focus for athletes should always be their sport rather than another part of business.

During the forum lawyer Lin Cheng-hwang recommended that athletes should always check basic clauses in a contract such as commission rate and cooperation period.

Hwang also underlined the importance of consulting with a lawyer before entering into any contract.

CTOC said it organised the forum as part of its mission to build programmes to help athletes develop their futures.
