Olympic road race champion Anna van der Breggen earned her third Giro Rosa title after triumphing in Italy.

The Dutch cyclist claimed the overall title in 26hrs 25mins 43secs, finishing the final stage behind the breakaway. 

Kasia Niewiadoma of Poland took second, with Elisa Longo Borghini of Italy third. 

Evita Muzic was the victor of the final stage, completing the 91.5 kilometre route in 3:16:30.

She just edged past Niamh Fisher-Black of New Zealand and fellow French cyclist Juliette Labous in a sprint finish. 

It was Van der Breggen's third Giro Rosa title after topping the podium in 2015 and 2017. 

Alongside her road race Olympic gold medal from Rio 2016, Van der Breggen also has a world title from 2018.

She had taken the lead of this year's Giro Rosa after compatriot Annemiek van Vleuten withdrew from the race following a crash on the seventh stage.
