Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ) is celebrating after winning the commercial partnership category of the New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards, along with Adecco.

The honour is defined as "an opportunity to identify, celebrate, promote and encourage exceptional partnering with a commercial entity for the benefit of sport and recreation" by organisers NZ Sport.

PNZ and Adecco have been in partnership for 12 years and the collaboration was praised for the organisations' shared values, how it has assisted Para-athletes and how it has raised awareness of PNZ.

"The judges recognised this as a strong partnership which has spanned an impressive 12 years", said NZ Sport chief executive Peter Miskimmin.

"It is a partnership based on shared values, promoting diversity, inclusion and social change while focusing on the well-being of Para-athletes."

The partnership includes the Adecco Athlete Career Programme, which is aimed at giving Para-athletes the preparation, training and skills required to enter the workforce.

The Adecco Prime Minister’s Dinner - an annual black-tie event designed to raise awareness of PNZ and Para-athletes within the corporate world - is another of the partnership's initiatives.

PNZ commercial manager Jenifer Hunt said the organisation was "incredibly proud to have our commercial programme and partnership with Adecco recognised".

Hunt added: "Commercial investment is one of the key ways we raise funds to ensure we can support current and emerging Paralympians, and deliver our community programmes promoting diversity, inclusion and social change.

"We are fortunate to have partners committed to these objectives and equally, we are committed to support them in achieving their own objectives."

PNZ previously won this award in 2017 alongside partners ACC, Cadbury and Sanford.
