daniel dias_21-11-111November 19 - History was made at the Scotiabank Aquatics centre in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Saturday as Brazil's Daniel Dias (pictured), irrepressible so far, finished the Parapan American Games with 11 gold medals from 11 events.

Dias claimed his tenth gold in the men's 200-metre freestyle S5 in a Games record time (2:35.04), before being part of the Brazil team which won the 4x100m medley relay 34ps to set an Americas record (4:23:99).

Brazil had plenty else to cheer besides Dias' heroics, with Vanilton Filho claiming the 100m freestyle S9 and Andre Brasil setting a Games record in the men's 100m freestyle S10 (51.60) to take gold.

Joana Silva won her fourth gold in four events, breaking another Games record, in the women's 200m freestyle S5 (3:18:50), and Talisson Glock won the men's 100m backstroke S6 in a Parapans record (1:25:31).

Carlos Farrenberg won the men's 100m freestyle S13 to complete a memorable day for Brazil, who finished on top of the swimming medal table with 33 gold medals.

Elsewhere in the pool, the USA's Anna Johannes won the women's 100m freestyle S9, and Argentina's Guillermo Marro set a Games record as he won the men's 100m backstroke S7 (1:14.15).

Mexico won gold in the women's 100m backstroke S6 through Vianney Trejo in what was another record time for the Games (1:35.61), before Arnulfo Castorena won the men's 150m individual medley SM3.

In the remaining two races of the day, two more Games records were broken; Daniel Giraldo Correa (57.46) in the men's 100m freestyle S12 and Belkys Mota of Venezuela (1:08.13) in the women's 100m freestyle S12.

The Brazilian team then raced to victory in the medley to cap a remarkable week of action in Guadalajara, which saw the hosts come second in the swimming medals count, having claimed 20 gold, with the USA back in third with 8 gold medals.
