The International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) has admitted it is delighted by the innovation of its national governing bodies as they have attempted to run activities to keep people active during the coronavirus recovery phase.

FITEQ praised the National Federations for embracing the governing body’s "BACK2TEQ" vision during the period.

The world governing body highlighted efforts activities in Czech Republic, Ghana, Indonesia and Eswatini.

Czech football players Tomáš Necid and Václav Kadlec were among those to participate in a teqball all-star event in the country’s capital city Prague.

The event was reportedly attended by a crowd and gained national interest.

The Eswatini Teqball Federation held a series of sessions for the public as part of FITEQ’s Club Development Programme, as they seek to spread the sport as the country formerly known as Swaziland emerges from lockdown.

The Club Development Programme is targeted at supporting the teqball community during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as stimulating long-term growth in participation of teqball globally.

Grassroots engagement is essential for teqball’s global growth and the club development programme gives more people the opportunity to play the sport, it is hoped.

FITEQ revealed similar activities are underway in Ghana, with their National Federation installing 60 teqball tables across the country, as well as arranging community activities and tournaments.

The governing body has also said teqball’s inclusion in the Asian Beach Games - which was due to be held in December this year but has now been postponed until April 2021 - has continued to develop the sport.

FITEQ cited Indonesia’s efforts to prepare for the Games by building on a FITEQ Education Programme held in Jakarta in November, as it seeks to grow participation.
