Norwegian Alpine skier Rasmus Windingstad has received the Südtirol Ski Trophy in an online ceremony, following impressive performances in South Tyrol in the 2019-2020 season.

Windingstad won his first World Cup race at Alta Badia last year, a result which helped him become the latest recipient of the trophy in the process.

The Südtirol Ski Trophy rewards the skier who gets the most points in the four World Cup races in South Tyrol - at Val Gardena and Alta Badia.

Launched in 2016, the honour has only been won by Norwegians so far.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde won the trophy in 2017 and 2018, while Kjetil Jansrud was the first winner.

Windingstad, the 2019 champion, has had to wait until now to receive the prize due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The virtual "Apertivo Alto Adige" was organised by the company IDM Alto Adige, with regional products also being tasted during the ceremony.

Chef Nicola Laera from the local La Stüa de Michil restaurant in Covara presented one of his dishes too.

Windingstad received a wooden bust, a stay in South Tyrol and €20,000 (£18,100/$23,700) for his triumph.
