World Taekwondo is encouraging fans and athletes to participate in its "Taekwondo Hope Relay".

The online campaign is designed to "spread the message of perseverance and hope to people the world" during the coronavirus pandemic.

It is being spearheaded by the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team, which began the relay by posting a video of its members delivering positive messages to the camera and acrobatically breaking boards.

The boards feature coronavirus-related messaging.

World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue also gets in on the act, punching through a wooden board labelled "COVID".

"Okay, this is really a difficult time for all of us, especially the taekwondo families" the President says.

"They are just staying home, not much practice.

"But still, we are taekwondo people.

"Stay strong and be safe.

"We will see each other soon."

Anybody wanting join the relay can send their video to the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team on Facebook or Instagram, or via email.
