The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has signed up as a gold partner of next year's SportAccord World Sport and Business Summit in Yekaterinburg.

FISU, a frequent partner of the annual gathering of officials from across the Olympic Movement, is set to use the event to promote the 2023 World University Games in the Russian city.

"FISU is pleased to continue the partnership with SportAccord, one of the most important events in the world of international sports," said FISU President Oleg Matytsin.

"As a founding member of the Global Association of International Sports Federations and an active member of ARISF, FISU continues to strengthen its position within the international sports movement and looks to lead the way in many areas.

"Moreover, this next edition of SportAccord will be special for us, as it is being held in the host city of our summer edition of the FISU World University Games in 2023."

SportAccord managing director Nis Hatt said the agreement was a "significant milestone" for the organisation and FISU.

"When Yekaterinburg was awarded the World University Games, FISU described the city as one of Russia’s most vibrant hubs, and we agree with those sentiments," Hatt said.

"Yekaterinburg is a wonderful city that has sport at its heart and will provide plenty of attractions and interests to keep delegates entertained and engaged for what I’m sure will be an outstanding SportAccord next year.

"Today is a significant milestone for our valued gold partner, and we wish our friends at FISU well as their preparations ramp up ahead of the Yekaterinburg 2023 FISU World University Games."

The 2021 SportAccord World Sport and Business Summit is due to take place from May 23 to 28.
