Public broadcaster RAI has extended its partnership with the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) until the end of December 2022.

The latest agreement was signed by RAI chief executive Fabrizio Salini and CIP President Luca Pancalli.

RAI, which owns television and radio stations in Italy, first partnered with the CIP back in 2015.

It is the third time the agreement has been extended.

RAI and the CIP have pledged to jointly develop initiatives aimed at conveying the importance of sport as a tool for overcoming physical and cultural barriers, as well as changing perceptions of disability in Italy.

The agreement will see awareness campaigns on sports and disabilities on RAI, including the enhancement of the Paralympic athletes and their stories.

RAI will also broadcast the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

"In recent years, RAI has made a fundamental contribution in the dissemination of the contents and values of the Paralympic sport,” Pancalli said.

"A large part of the population has gained different attention and a greater sensitivity to the issue of disability, much is due to the managers, journalists, operators and all employees of RAI who believed in Paralympic sport.

"Today we can say with certainty that we have created a small cultural revolution together.

"However, the path is not finished.

"This protocol is an opportunity to relaunch the ambitions of a movement that wants to continue to be a protagonist and that wants to continue to talk about disability from a different perspective.

"Very few meetings were enough for him to sense the potential of our world, creating a working group that supported us with very high profile editorial initiatives, involving the various newspapers, starting from RAI Sport, with the aim of entering, with ever greater efficacy, into the homes of Italians.

"Fabrizio Salini has shown that he believes in this new agreement which, I hope, will bear even more fruit in the coming years and face new challenges together."

RAI's logo will feature on team kit used by athletes competing at national Paralympic events, as well as activities related to the Paralympic Games.

The CIP say the logo will appear in compliance with rules set by the International Paralympic Committee.
