International Ski Federation (FIS) women's Alpine race director Peter Gerdol has conducted an inspection of the World Cup course in Jasná in Slovakia.

Giant slalom and slalom races are due to take place at the resort on March 6 and 7 2021.

Gerdol discussed issues such as broadcasting and television production, marketing and the coronavirus pandemic with the Organising Committee.

"We are delighted that the FIS representatives came here to Jasná," said Organising Committee chair Matej Hulej.

"As we organised the World Cup in 2016, it was mainly about already tested matters, but we also went over the new challenges that await us because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"We already have experience from organising an event of this level, but we do not want to decline in quality.

"We want to take the World Cup in Jasná to an even higher level.

"We have the basics, now we will integrate some corrections after the FIS inspection."

Gerdol revealed he was pleased with the inspection's results.

"The hill is excellent, and we are satisfied with it," he said.

"We are happy that the World Cup will be held in Jasná again after five years.

"We considered it very important to come here in person because the contact with the organisers is essential."

He did reveal that there was still uncertainty surrounding the upcoming FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Right after the track inspection, we had a meeting where we went deeper and talked about what the expectations from the upcoming season are," Gerdol said.

"Several unanswered questions and uncertainties accompany it.

"We cannot tell what the situation will be in October or November, not talking about March."

A coronavirus expert has been added to the Organising Committee for the event in Jasná and is set to communicate with the FIS and authorities regarding updates on the pandemic.
