The Russian Olympic Committee (IOC) has launched a campaign on social media entitled #modno2020 to support the International Olympic Committee (IOC) #StayStrong #StayActive #StayHealthy online Olympic Day event.

International Olympic Day will be celebrated on June 23, with the ROC's contribution to organise events where Russian athletes promote the importance of staying strong, active and healthy during the coronavirus pandemic.

Two-time Olympic figure skating champions Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics Margarita Mamun, Olympic champion in skiing Alexander Legkov, swimmer and silver medallist at Beijing 2008 Alexander Sukhorukov, former member of the Russian national soccer team Dmitry Bulykin and Russian skateboarders Lilia Sukhankova and Alisher Sodykov.

Virtual events on Olympic Day, taking place via the ROC's social media accounts include question and answer sessions with fans, workouts that fans can participate in and the presentation of awards to sports enthusiasts.

Participants will be able to get find out more about the new sports being included in the Olympic programme at Tokyo 2020 - skateboarding, karate and 3x3 basketball, and will have the opportunity to take part in training sessions being offered by athletes from the Russian Karate Federation.

Russia will also be represented in a global event where athletes from around the world will offer exercise sessions that users can participate in, with gymnast Mamun the country's representative.

Other Olympic Day events include setting up a small skate park, a basketball court for 3x3 basketball and a BMX racing ramp next to the ROC building in Moscow where mini-contests will be held featuring participation from national team athletes.

Meanwhile, a relocatable shooting range will be put up outside the Russian Biathlon Union's headquarters as part of the project All-Russian Biathlon Amateur Race.

Visitors will be able to try both the running and shooting disciplines, and to try the shooting in both the prone and standing positions.

A further Olympic Day event being offered by the ROC is the conclusion of the "Personal Record" event, where participants will try to improve their previous workout performances under the tuition of Legkov, Sodykov and Volosozhar.

All participants in the Personal Record competition will receive souvenirs, while the best pair, of mentor and participant, as chosen by a public vote, will receive prizes including sportswear.
