The International University Sports Federation's (FISU) Student Committee held a virtual meeting, during which members were encouraged to become active in the organisation's projects.

The main projects discussed were the FISU Student Ambassadors programme and the International Day of University Sport (IDUS), which marked the 100 days to go landmark yesterday.

FISU's Development and National University Sports Federations (NUSF) relations manager Tarmo Jaakson made a presentation about IDUS.

As part of the 100 days to go landmark, FISU said it was "cautiously optimistic" of some IDUS related events going ahead on September 20.

Representatives from Unisport Australia and the Lebanese American University have both indicated they are hopeful of holding in-person events at their universities, if the situation with the coronavirus pandemic allows.

Albina Rakhmatullina also presented similar ideas for the Student Ambassadors programme.

"It was a very productive meeting and all members had the chance to express their thoughts and views," said Student Committee member Mercy Lakisa.

"I really felt part of the meeting and felt like I contributed."

The meeting also included updates on preparations for the FISU Forum, which will now be held online between August 12 and 14.

Objectives for the 2020-2023 term were discussed as were activities proposed by the members.
