Grieskirchen in Austria will host both the Under-21 European and Under-18 World Fistball Championships from July 29 to August 1 next year.

The Under-18 World Championships was due to take place in Grieskirchen this summer, before it was postponed by one year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Following this, the Under-21 European contest in 2021 was reallocated from Switzerland to Grieskirchen to create a fistball festival of the world's best young players.

"We are very pleased to be hosting the Under-21 European Championship together with the Under-18 World Championship," said Faustball Austria vice-president Peter Oberlehner.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank the European Fistball Association, the Swiss Faustball and TSV Jona – who were originally supposed to organise the Under-21 European Championship 2021 – for their understanding and support.

"The world’s best young fistball players are now coming to us in Austria and will fight for the Under-18 World Championship title and for the European Championship title of the Under-21s next year."

Players who were eligible to compete in 2020 will also have the opportunity to participate in the World Championship in 2021.

The 2021 cut-off date remains the same for the Under-21 European Championships.

"The combined events will provide excitement and action on all four days of the competition," said International Fistball Association secretary general Christoph Oberlehner.

"On Thursday July 29, a big Opening Ceremony is planned in the city centre of Grieskirchen.

"On Friday July 30, the under-21 semi-finals will take place, Saturday is filled with the Under-18 semi-finals and the Under-21 final, before the Under-18 men and women’s finals take place on Sunday."
