The United States have led with experience after selecting its luge team for the upcoming 2020-2021 World Cup and World Championship season.

Their squad is led by Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic silver medallist, Chris Mazdzer, 2019 World Championship bronze medallist Emily Sweeney and fifth-ranked World Cup athlete Summer Britcher.

Other members of the team include three-time World Cup winner Tucker West and World Cup and World Championship medallist Jayson Terdiman, with all five athletes appearing at 10 Olympics between them.

Also named in the squad are the 2020 overall Nations Cup winner Jonny Gustafson, Brittney Amdt and Ashley Farquharson, who look to follow in the footsteps of the more experienced members of the squad.

Mazdzer and Terdiman both suffered injuries last year and, once the season ended, the former had to undergo shoulder and elbow operations before the shutdown of elective surgeries due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Britcher was the top American woman last year, picking up four World Cup podium finishes, while Sweeney won three World Cup medals.

Gustafson and Arndt both had their first top 10 finish in a World Cup event last year.

Dana Kellogg and Duncan Segger will join Mazdzer and Terdiman as a doubles team, after they both graduated from the junior ranks and won the season opener in the Junior World Cup.

Elsewhere, Chevonne Forgan, Sean Hollander and Keaton Jens also join the team.

Athletes from this group can compete in a maximum of nine World Cup events and the 2021 World Championships, which are scheduled to take place in Whistler in Canada.
