The Asian Sambo Championships in Bali in Indonesia have been moved to September due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Competition was originally due to take place from June 19 to 21, with the youth tournament set to be held during the same week.

Coronavirus forced both events to be suspended, however, with new dates of September 17 to 20 now tentatively pencilled in.

This would result in action taking place at the same time as the European Sambo Championships in Yekaterinburg, which was moved to September 17 to 21 from May 21 to 25.

New dates have not yet been decided for the African Championships in Egypt and the Pan-American Championships in Colombia.

Organisers are continuing to monitor the development of the pandemic before coming to a decision.

"The International Sambo Federation (FIAS) is closely observing the situation and will keep its members informed of any further developments," said FIAS President Vasily Shestakov.

"Meanwhile, we urge you to take good care of your health and avoid any risks that may affect it."

There have now been more than 2.2 million cases of coronavirus worldwide, resulting in more than 156,000 deaths.
