Malawi's taekwondo athlete Yamikani Guba has donated uniforms to his country's national governing body.

Guba, a British Army soldier who is based in England, made a presentation to the Taekwondo Association of Malawi on a visit to the African nation.

He attended Blantyre Youth Centre where he took his first steps in the sport.

"I specifically said the uniform I donated is to be used only at international championships as it has all the legal prints according to the code of the National Olympic Committee," Guba said to the Nyasa Times.

"I also had a very successful training with the team members and encouraged the youth on how important it is to work extra hard in order to achieve a lot in this career.

"It was also my gesture of appreciation because Blantyre Youth Centre is very dear to my heart having nurtured me into what I am as a master in taekwondo."

Guba was in Malawi as a nominee for the country's sportsman of the year prize.

He is a former national coach and also helped to co-found the Taekwondo Association of Malawi.
