The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Tour commissioner Jay Monahan has indefinitely decided to forgo his salary during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It comes after the PGA Tour decided to postpone tournaments until May, having previously shut down events until April 5.

Monahan is reportedly not the only executive to take a pay cut, with all other Tour employees having their wages frozen to the level of that in 2019, according to ESPN and Golfweek.

Events that are postponed include the RBC Heritage, Zurich Classic of New Orleans and the Wells Fargo Championship, which were all scheduled to take place in April.

Both the PGA Championship and The Masters have been delayed until later in the year too.

There have been over 395,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 to date, resulting in the deaths of more than 17,200 people.
