Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy and fellow home player Nour El Sherbini will contest the Black Ball Squash Open final after they claimed wins in their respective last-four encounters in Cairo today.

El Hammamy, the world number 10, will feature in her first-ever Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour Platinum event final after she twice survived a comeback against England’s Sarah-Jane Perry, the world number seven, in a five-game thriller at Black Ball Sporting Club.

The world junior champion has enjoyed a formidable run on home soil, beating world number three Camille Serme of France and world number eight Amanda Sobhy of the United States in the previous rounds, and she ensured that streak continued by taking an 11-3, 6-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-6 victory in 69 minutes.

"I’m over the moon," El Hammamy said.

"I can’t believe I’m playing in the final tomorrow.

"I think this is the toughest tournament I have ever played.

"I’ve had a lot of tough matches and I’m really proud of myself for pushing and winning such tough battles."

El Hammamy will face reigning world champion El Sherbini in the final after she recovered from a game down to defeat compatriot and world number five Nour El Tayeb 9-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-6 in 46 minutes.

El Sherbini, the world number four and the winner of the recently-held Windy City Open in Chicago, is through to her fourth final of the season.

She reached the title match in Cairo last year but was beaten by world number one Raneem El Welily.

"Nour and I have been playing against each other for a long time now," El Sherbini said.

"It’s really good to see her playing back at near her best.

"I haven’t played her in a long time - I don’t think we’ve played this season.

"I was prepared for this match and I’m really pleased I won."
