Russia were top of the table in the first of two events at the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships in Nottingham ©ISU

Russia won gold and silver medals in the short programme at the International Skating Union (ISU) World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships as Team Junost Junior won their fourth world junior title at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham in the United Kingdom. 

Very little separated first and second in the end with Junost finishing just 0.16 points ahead of their compatriots and national rivals, Team Crystal Ice Junior on a score of 76.09.

Finland and Canada came in next in sets of two with the Finnish team of Team Fintastic Junior securing the bronze just over two points behind the Russians.

The next Finnish team, Team Mystique Junior, were a clear fourth place a distance behind the bronze medal as well as comfortably ahead of Canada's Team Nexxice Junior in fifth place. 

Team Les Supremes Junior, also hailing from Canada, were sixth ahead of Sweden's Team Seaside Junior in seventh with the top host team, Britain's Team Icicles Junior, finishing in 11th. 

Tomorrow the Championships are due to conclude with the free skating.
