Egypt ensured it would be the only nation represented in the semi-finals of the St James' Place Canary Wharf Squash Classic after four of their players progressed with wins in the quarter-finals in London.

With five players in the quarter-finals of this Professional Squash Association Gold tournament, the only Egyptian head-to-head at East Wintergarden saw second seed Ali Farag win in three sets against Fares Dessouky after the unseeded player retired, clutching his hamstring.

Farag won the first set 12-10 before Dessouky levelled with an 11-9 second set win, but retired in the longest match of the quarter-finals while 5-2 down due to his injury.

World number one, Mohamed ElShorbagy once again squeezed through his match with a comeback over India's Saurav Ghosal.

The unseeded Ghosal won the first set 13-11 before the Egyptian replied with an 11-7 second set win before adding another in a tight 12-10 tiebreaker.

ElShorbagy after the match criticised the crowd calling them "disrespectful" for booing him during the match for time wasting which he was given a conduct warning for.

He will not be the only member of the ElShorbagy family in the semis after younger brother Marwan won in straight sets against Scotland's Greg Lobban in a straightforward 11-3, 11-8 victory and is now set to play Farag in the next round.

After the match Marwan ElShorbagy said, "I knew Greg was playing well so I needed to play well to win.

"I knew what I had to do to stop him playing his best shots."

The number one seed is due to play third seed Tarek Momen in the other semi-final after an 11-8, 8-11, 11-6 win over Peru's Diego Elias.
