Nathan Benderson Park in Florida has been selected as the host venue for the first two United States Olympic and Paralympic rowing team trials.  

The first set of trials will be from March 16 to 21 and will feature racing in the women's single sculls, men's single sculls, lightweight women's double sculls and lightweight men's double sculls.

A second set of trials are then scheduled for April 13 to 18, with competition taking place in the women's double sculls, men's double sculls, men's pair, and men's quadruple sculls, as well as PR1 men's single sculls, PR1 women's single sculls, and PR2 mixed double sculls.

Nathan Benderson Park, located in Sarasota-Bradenton, also hosted the trials for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 

"We are excited to bring the US Olympic and Paralympic rowing team trials back to Sarasota-Bradenton," said USRowing high performance director Matt Imes. 

"Nathan Benderson Park is a world-class facility that will provide our Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls everything they need as they compete to make the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic teams."

The venue has hosted numerous international and national rowing events including the 2017 World Rowing Championships, 2018 World Rowing Masters Regatta and 2019 World Rowing Under-23 Championships.

"We are thrilled that Sarasota and Nathan Benderson Park will continue our support of the sport of rowing and the Olympic and Paralympic movements in the United States by hosting the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic team trials," said Stephen V. Rodriguez, President and chief executive of Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, which operates Nathan Benderson Park. 

"This is part of a larger, long-term vision for our partnership with USRowing, to be at the centre of rowing in the US. 

"We look forward to hosting these amazing athletes and to providing an outstanding stage on which to perform."

Athletes will be competing for a place in the US team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, scheduled for July 24 and August 9, and the Paralympic Games, due to take place from August 25 to September 6.
