The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) has hosted a marketing workshop for Olympic sports organisations.

The two-day workshop, beginning on March 5, was put on by Idy Uyoe, a sports marketing consultant from the United States.

There were participants from 14 National Federations (NFs).

"We feel honored and privileged to offer this initiative and we hope that it will provide insights into important marketing strategies that federations can implement in to market their sports," NOCZ President Alfred Foloko said.

It is the first time NOCZ has hosted such an event but Foloko hopes it will not be the last, hoping it would unlock sports' marketing potential.

"As underscored in the NOCZ strategic plan for 2018-2021, one of our strategic objectives under capacity development is to strengthen skills and competencies of NOCZ Executive Board and NFs’ executive committees at least once a year.

"In this regard, the NOCZ Executive Board will also go through a similar training later this week."

Topics covered included brand marketing, sports marketing, communication, contract negotiation and how to assess the return on an investment.

NOCZ secretary general Boniface Kambikambi and executive director Brenda Chipande were also in attendance.
