The International Boxing Association (AIBA) Continental Forum for Asia will take place tomorrow in Jordan's capital Amman.

It will be the third regional event held by the governing body after the Americas gathering in Panama City and the Oceania edition in Fiji.

AIBA Marketing Commission chairman Umar Kremlev proposed the idea of the Forums to encourage dialogue within the crisis-hit organisation.

The governing body was stripped of its Olympic status in June over a number of issues, including governance, finances, refereeing and judging.

Amman is currently hosting the Asia-Oceania Olympic boxing qualifier for Tokyo 2020 here but AIBA are not involved and it is being run by an International Olympic Committee taskforce.

Debts and an uncertain future regarding AIBA's leadership continue to be issues for the organisation.

Mohamed Moustahsane is currently acting as Interim President after the resignation of Uzbekistan's Gafur Rakhimov.

The gathering at the Amman Rotana comes just two days after it was confirmed that the Moroccan will remain in his position until at least June 20.

This was due to the postponement of the organisation's Extraordinary Congress in Budapest, which has been pushed back three months because of the coronavirus outbreak.

In a letter to Executive Committee members, seen by insidethegames, Moustahsane – whose mandate had been due to expire on March 29 – confirmed the Congress would stay in the Hungarian capital but would be held on June 20 instead of March 20.

Among the key decisions set to be made at the Congress is a vote on changes to AIBA's statutes, while the process for the Presidential election could also become clearer.

Moustahsane will address delegates in Amman tomorrow and provide a progress report on the work of the AIBA Reform Commission.

Kremlev is also due to speak and will update on Marketing Commission affairs.

There will also be speeches by Anas Alotaiba, the President of the Asian Boxing Confederation, and Prince Mohammed Abbas Bin Ali Bin Nayef, the President of the Jordan Boxing Association.

Time has also been planned for remarks and proposals from National Federations.

The European Forum in Assisi in Italy was cancelled last month due to coronavirus.
