Organisers have said that all venues in the Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou hubs will be complete by the end of the year.

Zhang Jiandong, the vice mayor of Beijing, has pledged that work will remain on schedule.

Disruption caused by the virus forced a halt in construction but more than 96 per cent of workers are now back on site at 24 different projects, according to Xinhua.

Special quarantine areas were set-up for workers returning to Beijing from outside of the Chinese capital.

Last month, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reiterated their support for Beijing 2022 and China amid the coronavirus outbreak.

This followed a letter sent to the Chinese Olympic Committee from IOC President Thomas Bach, who expressed his "confidence" that Beijing 2022 would not be affected.

Since originating in Chinese city Wuhan, there have now been more than 95,000 cases of coronavirus around the world, and more than 3,200 deaths.

More than 80,000 of the cases are in China itself.

Numerous sporting events have been postponed or cancelled in China, including an Alpine Skiing World Cup in Yanqing last month.

This was due to be the first official Beijing 2022 test event.

The homologation process at the National Sliding Center has also been delayed due to the virus.
