The semi-final clashes were confirmed at the International Cricket Council Women's T20 World Cup in Australia after rain ruined the final day of group matches.

South Africa won Group B after their match with West Indies at Sydney Showground Stadium was abandoned due to rain without a ball being bowled.

They had won all three of their previous games and will now meet hosts and holders Australia, the four-time winners who finished second in Group A, in the last four.

The outcome also meant that England, who were not scheduled to play today, finished as Group B runners-up to set-up a semi-final date with Group A winners India.

In the other Group B match scheduled today, tournament minnows Thailand impressed with the bat against Pakistan.

The debutantes recorded a highly-impressive 150-3 after electing to bat, but their chances of a shock victory were ended as the rain prevented the Pakistan reply.

Nattakan Chantam scored 56 from 55 balls for the Thais who would have fancied their chances of forcing a famous result.

Both semi-finals are scheduled for Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday (March 5).
