The European Winter Para Sports Event is due to begin in Poland tomorrow, marking the start of three days of competition.

Action is scheduled to take place at Czarna Góra Ski Resort and Duszniki Cross Country Center, around 100 kilometres south of Wrocław.

A total of 300 participants, including 150 Para-athletes of differing ages and abilities, are expected, coming from at least 12 countries.

Competition will be held in the sports of Alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and biathlon.

The event will also feature an educational programme, which includes seminars and workshops on the medical classification system and anti-doping.

As an accompanying activity, inspirational and motivational meetings with three Polish Paralympians will be organised.

Alpine skiers Igor Sikorski and Lukasz Szeliga will be joined in attending by Nordic skier Katarzyna Rogowiec.

The European Winter Para Sports Event is co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme and aims to support volunteering in sport, social inclusion through sport, gender equality in sport and health-enhancing physical activity.
