It will be the second edition of the tournament, with France the defending champions after edging out Argentina in 2019's final.

The tournament will be held between May 22 to 24 and the total prize pot is in excess of $100,000 (£77,000/€90,400).

Online qualification will start in April, with 24 teams earning a spot in Denmark.

“As a nation rich in esports history and with an exciting and enthusiastic fan base, Denmark and the DBU [Danish Football Association] were a natural choice to host the FIFA eNations Cup in 2020," said Christian Volk, FIFA's head of gaming and efootball.

"Building on the incredible success and interest in the inaugural event last year in London, we are excited to take the FIFA eNations Cup to Denmark and bring the excitement and passion of an international and innovative team format like the FIFA eNations Cup to Danish fans, as well as a live audience, for the very first time.”

The DBU's acting chief executive, Kenneth Reeh, said the organisation was "very proud" Copenhagen had been selected.

"Last year, our national team had the pleasure of participating in the inaugural event in London and this year it will be even more delightful for the team to be able to play in the tournament on home soil in Copenhagen," Reeh added.

Teams will comprise of two players and contest FIFA 20 matches on both PlayStation and Xbox. 

Once qualified, nations will be drawn into one of four groups, with the top two in each group advancing to the knockout rounds.
