National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (HOK) President Timur Kulibayev has held a meeting with the body's heads of departments to check on preparations for this year's Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The meeting saw the department heads report on the intermediate results of their work.

Last year, a special committee was created and operates at the HOK.

It regularly monitors the training process of athletes and is in contact with the head coaches of the national teams on a daily basis.

"All planned events in preparation for the Olympic Games are being held according to the schedule, none of them were disrupted," Yelsiyar Kanagatov, director of the HOK sports department, said.

"All conditions for training are created for all teams."

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics are due to take place from July 24 to August 9.

Kazakhstan currently have 27 athletes qualified in 14 sports.

"There is not much time left before the Tokyo 2020," Kulibayev said.

"The crucial period has come not only for our athletes who are fighting for Olympic licenses, but also for all those involved in the preparation of the Kazakhstan national team.

"A lot depends precisely on those who work in the NOC: in the sports field, in international, anti-doping, and other issues that require our daily attention.

"The success of our athletes depends on our well-coordinated work."

In addition to the main issue of preparations for Tokyo 2020, Kulibayev also instructed the HOK sports department to analyse Kazakhstan's results at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games, which took place in Lausanne earlier this month.

The country failed to win a single medal at the multi-sport event.

"Despite the fact that the activities of the NOC are aimed at training the adult composition of national teams, we should not remain indifferent to the training process of youth - this is our reserve," Kulibayev said.

"We should keep an eye on those who we will rely on in the future for the national team."

Kazakhstan have been represented at each of the last six Summer Olympics.

At Rio 2016, the nation amassed a total of 18 medals, comprising three golds, five silvers and 10 bronzes.
