Erika Kirpu of Estonia set up a clash with Chinese top seed Lin Sheng after progressing into the last-64 of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) Épée Grand Prix in Qatari capital Doha.

Kirpu first defeated Emily Patten of Australia 15-10 at Aspire Dome, then overcoming Magdalena Piekarska-Twardochel of Poland by the same scoreline.

She will face a tough opponent in Lin, a silver medallist at last year's World Championships in Budapest.

The 25-year-old Lin was also the Summer Youth Olympic Games champion at Singapore in 2010, but missed the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro due to health issues.

Second seed Ana Maria Popescu of Romania also found out her last-64 opponent.
